The Cirdan Sailing Trust

Queen Galadriel

The Cirdan Trust provides young people, in particular those who are disadvantaged, with the opportunity to develop life skills from the challenge and experience of life at sea. The Trust works mainly with groups of young people who take a full and active part in sailing and running the vessel along with their youth leaders, often as part of an on-going programme. The aim of our voyages, which vary in length, is to encourage the development of personal and social skills but all trips are tailored to suit the specific needs of the group. A small number of individual trips are available for those looking to complete their Duke of Edinburgh Award and the vessels regularly take part in the annual international STI Tall Ships' Races.

The Trust operates a fleet of five traditional vessels from various ports around the country; each vessel has its own charm but all are purposefully work intensive to encourage team work and communication. The vessels are crewed by professional sea staff with experience of working with young people. The Trust and vessels operate to a very high standard under the MCA safety regulations.

No previous sailing experience is necessary and we can provide financial assistance through our Bursary Scheme to help with the cost of voyages.
