Fairbridge
Fairbridge is a leading youth charity supporting 13 - 25 year olds in inner-cities. Its long-term personal development programme uses a wide range of activities to enable marginalised young people to develop motivation, confidence and personal, social and life skills. For many, involvement with Fairbridge is the first step to reconnection with mainstream opportunities. Spirit of Fairbridge operates a 12 month sailing programme, most of which is spent on the West Coast of Scotland, although she circumnavigates Britain in alternate summers. Spirit also takes part in the international STI Tall Ships' Races. Young people access courses on Spirit through Fairbridge; everyone who sails on her has completed a Fairbridge access course and is involved in the wider personal development programme.
