Life changing adventures

"After the voyage I felt I had really achieved something.  It was nice to know we worked well together as a team of people who got to know each other really well.  We learnt to work together and listen to each other.  It was a once in a life-time experience".  Joseph from Rutland

Moonspray is used throughout the year as the Ellen MacArthur Trust's flagship.  We take young people, in recovery from cancer and leukaemia, sailing to help build confidence and friendships after treatment.  Those young people will be invited to return each year to build on their sailing skills and, at the age of 18, can take part in our training scheme to become a volunteer on, providing a positive role model for those sailing for the first time.  With our own boat, we are able to increase our operations, and in 2010, in addition to our regular summer trips for 8-17 yr olds from hospitals throughout the UK, we'll also be participating in the Isle of Wight Round the Island Race, Residential Dinghy Weeks, and volunteer training, we'll also be offering a pilot-scheme to 18-24 year olds to participate in a longer cruising adventure for those returning to sail.
