The Island Trust gives financial assistance to groups of disadvantaged young people to go both offshore and dinghy sailing, in order to help with their personal development, confidence and motivation. The groups assisted are drawn from a very wide spectrum including the unemployed, the aurally and visually impaired and those from education action zones, including a number from special needs schools.
The Trust normally helps those aged between 10 and 18 years and all groups throughout the UK are eligible to apply for help with funding.
The Trust is a registered charity, was formed over 30 years ago and has much experience with this type of work.
