Ocean Youth Trust Scotland is a voluntary organisation that provides the thrill of Adventure Under Sail to young people aged 12-24. We operate three of the most modern sail training vessels in Europe. Alba Venturer is a 70 ft ketch accommodating groups of up to 12 young people. Alba Volunteer is a 43ft sloop ideal for smaller groups of 6-8 people and Alba Explorer is a Challenge 72, a former BT Round the World Race boat. Our professional skippers and 200 volunteer mates from all over the UK help to deliver over 90 voyages a year, taking over 700 young people to sea. Our vessels are based on the stunning West Coast of Scotland, but regularly sail on expeditions to destinations such as Iceland and Norway.
As a recognised RYA teaching establishment we are able to offer the full range of RYA practical and shore based courses, from Start Yachting and Competent Crew right up to Yachtmaster Instructor. We offer the opportunity for crew members to complete both the residential and expedition components of the Duke of Edinburgh's Award. We promote our commitment to conservation by offering the John Muir Award. Sailing on our vessels is the perfect way to discover and explore the beauty of wild places throughout Scotland.
